Peace monument

On Pratamnak mountain you find a granite peace monument. Since 2006 Pattaya has been declared ‘Peace city’. Pattaya never experienced war. Then why a peace monument? Peace means much more than living without war. Living in peace is about living harmoniously with yourself, others and everything around you. The younger you realize the importance of peace, the more you live in peace with yourself and others. That is why children in Pattaya have been asked to express themselves with art about peace. This resulted in Peace ART exhibitions in 2011 and 2021.

The Peace monument and the Peace ART exhibitions are sponsored by the Rotary Club of Pattaya that declared Pattaya the first Rotary International Peace City in 2006. The monument overlooks peacefully Pattaya harbor and Pattaya beach. It is located in a green, tranquil area where it’s nice to walk, cycle and picnic. There are sidewalks and steps to the harbor and Pattaya beach. On the way down you will come across the well-known ‘PATTAYA’ letters.

Increasing peace is the result of retraining your mind to process life as it is, rather than as you think it should be. The more you expect, the more you get disappointed. Take life as it is. By taking things as they are, you are much more relaxed and find peace in yourself.

Do you want a path to more peace? From the peace monument there is a tranquil road up and down for thinking about life. Being outside and exercise helps you to clear your head. The environment of the Peace monument is nice for walking, cycling, doing yoga and meditating. You have spectucular views over Pattaya.

The more people living in peace and harmoniously with themselves and others the more social the society becomes. Love life, yourself and others.
